Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS)
Travel and Ground Transport
If you don't have a car, getting to the city and beyond is straightforward, with an excellent public bus network, a nearby train station and various shuttle operations in operation.
With the exception of trains, all public transport services go from just outside the Baggage Reclaim area of the terminal and services run throughout the day.
The cheapest option for getting to Lisbon from Lisbon Portela Airport is to take one of the public buses services into the city and there are many services that serve all areas. Bus numbers 5, 22, 44, 45 and 83 serve the airport and destinations in Lisbon. In addition, you can also catch long distance buses to other areas of Portugal from the airport.
Aerobus number 91 runs daily to Lisbon city centre throughout the day, with the journey typically taking about 20 minutes, while Scotturb shuttle services run to the coastal resort towns of Estoril and Cascais in western Lisbon on an hourly basis.
There is no direct rail connection between Lisbon Portela Airport and Lisbon city centre, yet there are a few nearby stations that can easily be reached by taxi from the airport including Gare do Oriente interface and Parque das Nações. From these stations you can connect to the Lisbon Metro, which has four lines that serve all areas of the city.
Taxi ranks are located at Arrivals and Departures and although taxis have meters, you should check the fare with the driver prior to departure. There is a standard surcharge from the airport as well as extra charges for luggage.
